Refused from PayPerPost

PayPerPost is a company which offers sponsored articles to bloggers.

With some big differences from the paid posts we have in France. The articles can be very numerous, you can nearly have a entire blog fulled with sponsored posts and publish 3 per day (at the beginning)! The counterpart is the offered sums are very low ($5 to $10).

I don't know in the rest of Europe, but in France, we are paid from 30€ to 100€, for blogs like mine with 500-1000 visitors a day.

As I don't know other anglophon service, I wanted to subscribe to PayPerPost for this English version of my site.

Of course, I read the terms: no racism, no violence, no pornography, etc... And our computer blog has been rejected!

Animusic, musical animations

Animusic is a band composed with a musician and a graphic artist. As their name suggests they make musical animations. All their creations are available on DVD on the site Animusic.com, but we can find some extracts on the video sharing sites.

The first short films were made several years ago. Since that time, the 3D technologies make some progress, but my favourite is one of the firsts, named Pipe Dream.

HTML compliant Flash in TinyMCE and Wordpress

This plugin is no longer needed since the end of 2008 and the version 3.2.1 of TinyMCE, included in Wordpress 2.7.1!

Purists know that having a valid HTML code is very important not only to participate in the effort of standardization of the web, but also for referencing and compatibility with all browsers present or future.

The problem

Many CMS and blogs use the free WYSIWYG editor TinyMCE. Wordpress from version 2.5 includes the version 3 of this editor which generate HTML code entirely valid except for Flash and videos (Real, WMV, Quicktime)!

The famous site SourceForge just published the results of the «Community Choice Awards», rewarding the best open-source projects chosen by the members.

SourceForge is platform allowing developpers to work with others and sharing their work with the community. The website regroups actually more than 180 000 projects and nearly 2 millions members.

Among the most famous members of the site, we can notice the office suite OpenOffice.org (OOo).

The good HTML code to insert Flash

I must admit we are not helped, everywhere we can share Flash animations or videos, the code they give is wrong. Except a few passioned developpers, most people copy-paste the given code even without knowing the element does not exist in HTML!

Moreover, the correct code is simpler and shorter.

The future flat screens

The actual flat screens (LCD, TFT, plasma) all present the disadvantage to require a backlight. That disallow them to have real dark black, they still have some remanence, and the smaller weakness, a limited angle of vision.

The dream of all manufacturers and consumers is of course to have a screen with the size of a flat screen, and the image quality of a CRT (cathod ray tube).

Duke Nukem Forever, vaporware of the century

Here's one that doesn't stop to make speak for 10 years! Duke Nukem Forever, the sequel of Duke Nukem 3D, is awaited since 1997!

It has been nominated by the magazine Wired, vaporware of the year several times between 2000 and 2006. (Details on Wikipedia Duke Nukem Forever.)

We thought the game was finaly abandonned and will never see the light, but it makes noise again recently. A video was published on december 2007 and 3D-Realms has engaged a developer for Duke 4. So...?
